№ 010 — WEEK OF 19 OCT
Issue 14: Denim Does the Talking.
Denim shows up in four of this week's six looks, which was not planned so much as inevitable. The studio kept reaching for the Grand Blue Jean, the Duo Phase pant, the Zavian tote, and the rest of the rail fell in behind them. What follows is how each look sits on the body and where it earns its place.
Blue on blue, jacket leading
The Bond Blue Jacket sits over the Grand Blue Jean in two close tones, so the jacket carries the look and the jean stays quiet underneath. Monster Slides keep the hem relaxed rather than dressed; the Leather Cuff Bracelet is the one small thing that reads as considered. Wear it for an evening out in Lekki or Wuse where you want presence without effort.
Short or jort, same top
The Bling White Top anchors this with a choice of bottom: the Booty Short for a shorter line, or the Duo Belt Chinos Jort when the day calls for more cover. Ruby Heels lift either option out of daytime territory. Pick the jort for a late lunch that runs into the evening, the short when the plan is strictly after dark.
Nas Tee, nothing else loud
The Nas Tee does the work here, with Crux Cotton Boxers underneath and a pair of slides, either Strokes or the Hollow Summer Slides 2.0. It is a home-and-around-the-estate look, built for heat and short errands. The point is that the tee is good enough to be seen, and everything else just sits.
Leather vest, denim everywhere else
The Yat Leather Vest over the Duo Phase Denim Pant sets one texture against another, and the Zavian Denim Tote Bag keeps the denim running through the whole look. Three pieces, no filler. Wear it to a gallery opening or a long afternoon in Victoria Island where the bag has to carry more than a phone.
Scars Tank, pick your pant
The Scars Tank Top is light enough for a Lagos afternoon, and the pant decides the mood: the Rockie Denim Pant for the fuller, heavier silhouette, or the Jeux Bootcut Pant for a cleaner line through the leg. Both let the tank sit easy on top. This is the look for daytime plans that do not involve a car.
Line Art Shirt, Derby underneath
The Line Art Shirt tucked or untucked over the Grand Blue Jean, with the Balenciaga Derby doing the heavy lifting at the floor. Pine Sunglasses finish it without adding noise. It is the most dressed look in the issue and the right one for a dinner in Abuja where the room expects you to have tried.
